MSF Mission

With your support, Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is able to respond directly to emergencies and provide vital medical care to people affected by epidemics, natural disasters or conflicts, as well as to forgotten or neglected communities.

By making a donation to MSF, you support our medical actions on the ground, allowing us to intervene in the event of a crisis while ensuring the continuity of our projects in the long term.

Our areas of intervention:

  • Epidemics and pandemics: Tackling diseases is an important part of our work. Whether it’s tuberculosis, malaria or HIV, the resurgence of measles, yellow fever, cholera or Ebola, diseases continue to claim too many victims. On the ground, we implement prevention, vaccination and awareness-raising activities. We set up healthcare facilities and work to improve hygiene and sanitation conditions. These actions play an important role in combating epidemics.
  • Food security: The fight against malnutrition is one of our priorities. Acute malnutrition develops rapidly and requires immediate management, threatening the lives of children under five years of age, who are particularly vulnerable. Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières helps them by setting up outpatient or inpatient nutrition programmes, depending on their state of health.
  • Conflicts: In conflict situations, our teams intervene at the heart of the emergency to provide vital care to civilian populations. In these difficult contexts, we carry out war surgery activities and support hospitals and health centres by supplying equipment and medicines.
  • Migration: Whether supporting people shipwrecked at sea or living in camps in dire conditions, MSF strives to meet the essential needs of displaced people – drinking water, food and shelter – then improve their health conditions and fight malnutrition.
  • Disrupted access to healthcare: In many countries, vulnerable people are the first to struggle to access medicines and care, resulting in increased maternal and child mortality. Every day, our teams work to facilitate health interventions, including mental health, for patients who don’t have access to care.
  • Natural disasters: Tsunamis, cyclones, earthquakes or floods strike indiscriminately, leaving people in real need. In these situations, every minute counts when it comes to saving lives. To help the most severely affected, our teams send first aid kits and essential supplies. They also set up mobile clinics and provide life-saving care.

It is thanks to your support that our actions are possible! Thanks to you, Doctors Without Borders / Médecins Sans Frontières teams can respond to humanitarian crises, help the most vulnerable and provide emergency medical assistance in more than 70 countries around the world.
